Inside Session with Ed Butler

I want to focus on the things I can offer District 41: innovative & fresh ideas, a new view of the challenges coupled with fresh solutions to solve them.  My experience and service has prepared me to seek solutions to our current challenges and promote our District, to help secure a prosperous future for our children.


I do not have all the solutions and will certainly not pretend I do; however, I will apply the same passion, determination, dedication and hard work while seeking the best solutions that will serve you and District 41.

HB1805 by Butler Transportation Sub-committee

Relative to the registration and licensing of motor vehicles, this bill requires that upon the death of a person who owns and operates a freight motor vehicle registered as weighing 26,001-80,000 pounds, or who operates a freight motor vehicle registered as weighing 26,001-80,000 pounds and who owns 51 percent or more of the stock in the entity that owns the freight motor vehicle ("eligible operator"), in order to secure a refund of the unused portion of the registration fee paid, the certificate of registration and related license plate must be surrendered to, and a copy of the death certificate of the deceased eligible operator must be submitted to the department of revenue ("department"). HB0165 by Butler Commerce Committee

Disabled Persons - Amends TCA Title 8; Title 39; Title 44 and Title 62, Chapter 7, Part 1. As enacted, authorizes an employee of a public accommodation to ask for certain information about a dog guide in training; specifies that an individual utilizing a service animal or training a service animal in training is liable for damages to the same extent that an individual whose pet causes damages to a public accommodation is; makes other related changes to service animals and service animals in training. Adoption - As enacted, authorizes a court to waive certain waiting periods and expedite certain proceedings relative to the adoption of children abandoned or voluntarily left at a facility or in a newborn safety device if certain conditions are met. - Amends TCA Title 36, Chapter 1; Title 37, Chapter 5 and Title 68, Chapter 11.
